Stageberg has dedicated
more than 88 hours of her time to community service efforts in the past two
seasons. The junior Family, Youth and Community sciences major has volunteered at
several Gators March for Babies events and has visited patients at the Shands
Pediatric Ward and Infusion Room. She has also participated in the Gator Tracks
program, where Florida student-athletes purchase and deliver new shoes to
children in need.
Together with the rest of the gymnastics team, Stageberg volunteered at last
October’s Gainesville American Cancer Society's Seventh Annual Making Strides
Against Breast Cancer Walk to hand out drinks, pink ribbons and medals to
participants. Stageberg was a counselor at the gymnastics team’s fall Harvest
Food Drive clinic, which raises canned goods for Gainesville’s Bread of the
Mighty Food Bank Inc. With an admission fee of five canned goods, children can
learn gymnastics skills from the Gators gymnastics team.
Since the fall of 2009, she volunteered more than 40 hours at Terwilliger Elementary School, working with the After School program (aiding in homework, arts & crafts, games, etc.) and with children aged kindergarten – 5th grade, helping them with assignments.
