Monday February 13, 2012T.J. Vogel Named to Ben Hogan Award Watch List

University of Florida junior T.J. Vogel (Cooper City, Fla.) has been named to the 2012 Ben Hogan Award Watch List, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced late last week. The award honors the top men's collegiate golfer, taking into account all collegiate and amateur competitions during a 12-month period.

 

Vogel, who is one of 28 members of the watch list, is having an impressive debut season with the Orange and Blue. In his six tournaments this season, Vogel possesses an impressive 71.3 stroke average and has finished no worse than a tie for 15th. Additionally, the junior has recorded top-10s in his last five events, including runner-up finishes at the Inverness Intercollegiate and the SunTrust Gator Invitational and a victory, the first of his collegiate career, at the Sea Best Invitational played at THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass.

A list of 10 semifinalists will be unveiled on Wednesday, April 11, and then will be pared down to three finalists on Thursday, May 10. The winner will be crowned at a banquet at Colonial Country Club on Monday, May 21, prior to the start of the PGA TOURís Crowne Plaza Invitational.

Vogel and the rest of the UF menís golf team will return to action on Monday, Feb. 27, when they compete in the Charleston Shootout at the Links at Stono Ferry in Hollywood, S.C.
