The Gator track and field teams prepare for their final weekend of competition before the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships by splitting up and trekking a combined 4,620 miles away from Gainesville for two of the best regular season indoor meets in the country.

The distance corps will be competing in the Flotrack Husky Classic, hosted by the University of Washington, on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-11. Live stats for the event can be found here and live video will be provided by both Flotrack.org and GoHuskies.com.

The sprints, jumps and throws squads traveled a fair distance as well, participating in the Don Kirby Collegiate Elite at the Albuquerque Convention Center, hosted by the University of New Mexico. The meet is a one-day event on Friday, Feb. 10, with the field events beginning at 4:15 p.m. ET and the running events commencing at 7:30 p.m. ET. Live stats can be found here.

“We’ve kind of pinpointed this weekend (for the distance runners) to be aggressive and show what we’re able to do with the distances,” Florida head coach Mike Holloway said. “We’ve talked a lot about that program and what we can do to get better and this weekend is a chance to show that.”

“With the group going to New Mexico, we just have to keep getting better,” Holloway stated. “We can’t rest on what we did in Blacksburg. I told them before we left (Virginia Tech), ‘if you had a good weekend, we’re proud of you but we need to get back to Gainesville and get better. If you had a bad weekend, leave it in the building, tap the door on the way out, leave that there, get back to Gainesville and get better.’

“We’ve got two weeks until the conference meet and five weeks until nationals, so we’ve still got a lot of work to do,” Holloway finished.

Complete results from both meets and a recap of each day will be available on www.GatorZone.com.
