Meets between Florida and LSU are traditionally close contests. Since 1995, 22 of the UF-LSU meetings have been decided by less than half a point. This includes three of the eight meetings between UF and LSU since 2009. Last year, UF took wins over LSU in the regular-season dual in Baton Rouge, La. (196.425-194.00) and at the SEC Championships (196.975-195.475).

Last week, Florida went on the road to face defending NCAA champion and then No. 6 Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Tide used the nation’s second-highest team total of the season, 197.725, to take the win in front of a Coleman Coliseum crowd of 12,457. The Gators turned in their season-high road score and their second-highest total of the season of 196.90 Friday. Florida’s 197.775 set in its Jan. 27 quad meet win still stands as the nation’s top total through the first weekend of February. Two Gators picked up at least a share of two event wins at Alabama. Sophomore Mackenzie Caquatto claimed her second consecutive and eighth uneven bars win of her career with a 9.90. Junior All-American Ashanée Dickerson used her second consecutive 9.90 on balance beam to take her 10th win of her career on the event. Freshman Kytra Hunter shared second in the all-around at 39.45 as she has registered three wins and a runner-up finish in the five all-around competitions of the season.

LSU is coming off a 196.125-195.05 home win over Kentucky last Friday in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The win evens the Tigers’ SEC record at 2-2 as LSU opened league action with a 195.025-193.80 home win over Auburn and registered back-back-back road losses at Arkansas and at Georgia. LSU posted its season-high score of 196.325 at Arkansas on Jan. 20. Rheagan Courville owns LSU’s season-best all-around total of 39.45 set last Friday when she won four of the five events versus Kentucky to earn the SEC Freshman of the Week award. She won all-around (39.45), took her fourth-straight vault title (9.90), won bars for the first time (9.875) and her collegiate-best of 9.925 won beam.
