Monday February 6, 2012Bradley Beal Named SEC Freshman of the Week for Second-Straight Week
University of Florida freshman guard Bradley Beal (St. Louis, Mo.) has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season, and second time in as many weeks, the Conference announced today.
Beal, who takes home the Gators’ seventh conference honor of the season, earned the accolade after an impressive showing in a pair of victories over South Carolina and No. 25 Vanderbilt where he averaged 16.5 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Beal started the week out with his team-best fourth double-double of the season on 17 points and a career-best 11 rebounds against South Carolina. He followed up his strong performance against the Gamecocks with 16 points, 14 coming in the second half, and seven rebounds against Vanderbilt as the Gators improved to 7-1 in conference play.
Beal and the rest of the Gators return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 7, when they travel to Lexington, Ky. to take on the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats in a 7 p.m. contest which will air live on ESPN.
