Monday January 30, 2012Bradley Beal Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Birmingham, Ala.

University of Florida freshman guard Bradley Beal (St. Louis, Mo.) has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season, the Conference announced today.


Beal, who takes home the Gators’ sixth conference honor of the season, earned the accolade after an impressive showing in a pair of victories over Ole Miss and No. 16/18 Mississippi State where he averaged 14 points, three rebounds and 2.5 assists. Beal scored nine points and added three assists and two boards against the Rebels. He followed up his performance at Ole Miss with a team-best 19 points, on six-of-nine shooting, including three-of-four from distance, against Mississippi State. The team-leading 19 points marked the sixth time this season that Beal has led the team in scoring.


Beal and the rest of the Gators return to action on Thursday, Feb. 2, when the host South Carolina in a 9 p.m. contest which will air live on ESPN2.
