Monday December 19, 2011Kenny Boynton Named SEC Player of the Week
University of Florida junior guard Kenny Boynton (Pompano Beach, Fla.) has been named the SEC Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Boynton joins sophomore forward/center Patric Young (Jacksonville, Fla.) and freshman guard Bradley Beal (St. Louis, Mo.) as Gators to take home SEC weekly honors this season.
Boynton takes home the honor after registering 22 points, two assists, one rebound and a steal in UF’s win over No. 22 Texas A&M. The 22 points marked the sixth time this season and 22nd time in his career that Boynton has surpassed the 20-point plateau. Additionally the 22 points moved Boynton into 34th on UF’s all-time scoring list with 1,191 points.
Boynton and the rest of the Gators will return to action this evening when they host Mississippi Valley State at the O’Connell Center in a 7 p.m. contest.
