Monday October 24, 2011Todd Morgan Previews Upcoming SEC Championship for Media Monday
University of Florida assistant track and cross country coach Todd Morgan addressed the media Monday morning as part of the Gatorsí All-Sports Media Day as the Florida cross country squads prepare for upcoming SECs.
The Gators will enter the championship portion of the 2011 season when they head to Knoxville, Tenn., for the 2011 SEC Championship races - Hosted by Tennessee - Oct. 31.
Floridaís women will enter the SEC Championship at the Lambert Acres Golf Club in Maryville, Tenn., as the two-time defending league champions. UF assistant track and cross country coach Todd Morgan has also picked up SEC Womenís Cross Country Coach of the Year honors the past two seasons. Florida has now won five league titles on the womenís side (1984, 1996, 1997, 2009, 2010) and boasts four individual champions, with the last individual title coming in 2009 when redshirt senior Rebecca Lowe captured the crown.
The Gator menís squad will be looking to improve upon its third-place finish at 2010 SECs Ė the teamís best finish since also taking third in 2007. Florida has finished in the top five for 15 consecutive years at the conference championship. UF owns three SEC team titles all-time (1955, 1986, 1987) and three individual titles, the last from Keith Brantly in 1983.
