Friday October 21, 2011No. 10 Gators Men's Golf Travels to Isleworth to Close Fall Season
Coming off their first victory of the season at The Bake at the Ocean Course, the Gators men’s golf team will travel to Windemere, Fla., to compete in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational. The three-day tournament, which features seven ranked teams, runs from Sunday, Oct. 23, to Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Isleworth Golf and Country Club.
The Gators will bring a lineup of juniors T.J. Vogel (Cooper City, Fla.), Tyler McCumber (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) and Tommy Mou (Bradenton, Fla.), and freshmen J.D. Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.), and Eric Banks (Truro, Canada) to the par-72, 7,544 yard, course.
The 12-team field at Isleworth consists of Alabama, Augusta State, California, Florida, Indiana, LSU, North Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Stanford, UCF and Vanderbilt. Seven teams in the field are ranked in the latest Golfworld/Nike Golf Coaches Poll, including four of the top-10 in Florida (10), Alabama (T5), Stanford (4) and Oklahoma State (2). In addition to the seven ranked teams, five more teams are receiving votes.
The Gators have competed at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational four previous times in program history (2004, ‘06, ‘09 and ‘10). Last season at Isleworth, the Gators finished in a tie for third with senior Bank Vongvanij earning medalist honors.
Tee times for all three rounds will begin at 8 a.m. Live scoring for the tournament will be available through golfstat.com.
