Gainesville, Fla.

Florida jumpers Will Claye (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Christian Taylor (Fayetteville, Ga.) competed in the 10th stage of the Samsung Diamond League held in Monaco on Friday. This was the first 2011 Diamond League event for the junior jumpers, who claimed the top two spots in the triple jump at the USA Championships less than a month ago.

Claye, the 2011 NCAA Indoor Champion in the menís triple jump, finished fourth overall with a jump of 16.99m/55-8.89 (-0.4) in Monaco. Taylor, a Bowerman finalist and the winner of the 2011 USA Championships and the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Champion, finished seventh with a leap of 16.74m/54-11.05 (+0.4). Both jumpers will represent the U.S. at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Daegu, South Korea, Aug. 27-Sept. 4, 2011.

Junior sprinter Jeff Demps (Winter Garden, Fla.) competed in the menís 100-meter dash at the Sport Solidarity international meet in Lignano, Italy earlier this week. Demps clocked a time of 10.14 to finish second in his heat and fifth overall.

Four Gator freshmen will compete this weekend in the 2011 Pan American Junior Championships held in Miramar, Fla. Freshman middle distance runner Cory McGee (Pass Christian, Miss.) will start off the action for the Gator contingent in the semifinals of the 1500-meter run on Saturday morning. Freshman hurdler Eddie Lovett (West Palm Beach, Fla.) will look to start strong in the semifinals of the men's 110-meter hurdles, an event in which he claimed the U.S. Junior Championship in June. On Sunday morning, freshman sprinter Ebony Eutsey (Miami, Fla.) will compete as a member of the U.S. team in the semifinals of the 4x400-meter relay and on Sunday evening, freshman Fawn Miller (Stoneboro, Pa.) will begin competition in the women's javelin. All four events conclude on Sunday evening.
