Wednesday June 29, 2011Three Gators Listed on CFPA Defensive Watch List
A trio of Gator defensive players, Jonathan Bostic (Wellington, Fla.), Jeremy Brown (Orlando, Fla.) and Jaye Howard (Apopka, Fla.), were named to the 2011 College Football Performance Defensive Awards Watch List, the organization announced Wednesday.
Bostic, who was on the CFPA Linebacker Trophy list, is coming off a stellar sophomore season where he appeared in all 13 games and finished tied for third on the team with 57 tackles (36 solo and 21 assisted). Additionally, the Wellington, Fla. native recorded three interceptions, ranking him eighth nationally among linebackers.
Howard was named to the CFPA Defensive Lineman Trophy list after a strong redshirt junior season in which he appeared in 11 games and tallied 10 tackles for loss.
A CFPA Defensive Back Trophy nominee, Brown is coming off his first full season in a Gator uniform after dealing with back issues his first two years in Gainesville. This past season Brown appeared in 11 games, making 10 starts, and ranked eighth in the SEC in passes defended with 0.80 per game.
Recipients of the awards are exclusively selected upon scientific rankings that measure the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
