On the senior class set to be honored on Senior Day this Saturday:
“We have 23 seniors and we have five that left last year and are out playing in the National Football League. We have two that have already graduated. Eight will graduate in December and all the others are on schedule to graduate. Obviously, that sometimes takes a hit when some of these guys take off in the spring to go to these combine preparation camps that they do. We are pushing it real hard, but I have great confidence that they will all at some point have a degree from the University of Florida. Eight players in this group played for two national championships. Eight were part of two SEC championships and three SEC Eastern Division championships. Three were part of three BCS bowl game wins. Their overall record is 41-10, 24-8 in the SEC, 22-5 at home and 11-1 against the rivals. Six Academic All-SEC selections, and they can finish as one of the winningest classes in SEC history. And they can finish as one of the top three in Florida football history. We are awful proud of these guys. I love these guys. Their leadership, obviously this season has been full of speed bumps and adversity, and I would let you know if I didn’t believe we have a good senior class. This is a great group of guys. Guys that we are all very close with and I know… I can’t speak on behalf of Gator Nation, but there are a bunch of Gator greats, and a bunch of guys that we’re awful proud that they came to the University of Florida. We want to send them out winners. That’s our whole intent this week.”

On if he feels the energy is gone from the team:
“I thought we’ve had some really good energy these past few weeks coming off that bye week. Maybe before that bye week, it was a little distant from us, but these past few weeks, we’ve had a lot of energy. I still think it’s there and we’re going to keep having it, I think.”

On the mindset of the seniors:
“I bleed Orange and Blue. I’ll never give up on this program, this team. Obviously I’ll be a pro player one day, but we’ve got two or three more games left and that’s what our main focus is on. We obviously want to send our senior class out on the right note, especially for the guys who gave their life to this program.”
On Senior Day:
“Yeah, it’ll obviously be an emotional day next weekend. It’s tough for me because I feel like I gave it my all for this program, and it just [stinks] to end it on a note like this, but I want to finish the season out strong with a couple more wins.”

On whether Senior Day means less this year:
“It means a whole lot because it’s the last time you get to spend your last game with your band of brothers and your family gets to be there. Basically, it’s just a special moment, no matter what kind of season anybody is having. Senior Day is always going to be a special moment because you never know what can happen, and you’ve got to take that last game and take that last time for what it is. I guarantee you that everybody who is a senior is going to play their heart out no matter what. The circumstances may be (different), but it’s a special time not just for me but I know for the rest of my fellow teammates who are seniors.”
