The fourth-seeded University of Florida softball team will host the first round of the NCAA Tournament starting Friday, May 21 at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.  The Gators (43-8) will host UCF (35-21), FIU (36-19) and Bethune-Cookman (32-22). 

Play opens on Friday with UCF vs. FIU at 3:30pm, followed by Florida vs. Bethune-Cookman at 6:00pm. Play then continues on Saturday and Sunday.

NCAA Softball Gainesville Regional: Official Site

This marks the 11th year the Gators will host a Regional in the friendly confides of Pressly Stadium and the eighth consecutive season, including every year of head coach Tim Walton’s tenure. 

The winner of the Gainesville Regional will play the winner of the Amherst, Mass., Regional, which includes No. 13 Arizona State, Boston University, Long Island, and host Massachusetts.  The highest remaining seed will host the Super Regional.

Seven Southeastern Conference teams made the 64-team NCAA Tournament field, including Florida.  Alabama earned the No. 1 overall seed and will host a regional, along with No. 6 Georgia, No. 12 LSU and No. 15 Tennessee.  Auburn will play in the Atlanta Regional hosted by No. 8 Georgia Tech, and Kentucky will play at the Columbus, Ohio, Regional where No. 11 Cal is the highest seed.  The Pac 10 and Big 12 Conferences also sent seven teams each. 

Florida advanced to the Women’s College World Series the last two years, including the championship series last season.  Defending National Champion Washington will host a regional as the No. 3 seed. 

Ticket packages can be purchased in advance or at the gate for $25 for adults and $10 for students, senior citizens or children for all sessions (each day is one session).
