UF head coach Billy Donovan and the University of Florida Gators (21-12, 9-7 SEC) will take on Brigham Young University (29-5, 13-3 MWC) Thurs., March 18, in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the Ford Center.
Florida, making its first NCAA appearance since its 2007 National Championship Title, will compete as the No. 10 seed in the West regional of the 2010 bracket against No. 7 seed BYU. No. 1 seeded Syracuse leads the way in the West. The West regional final will be held in Salt Lake City.
Should the Gators advance past BYU, they would take on the winner of Kansas State versus North Texas Sat., March 20, in Oklahoma City in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Florida, which achieved its 12th consecutive 20-win season with a 75-62 victory over Tennessee Feb. 23, was last in action at the 2010 SEC Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. The Gators downed Auburn in the first round, 78- 69, but fell to Mississippi State in a close game, 75-69, in the quarterfinals.
BYU most recently reached the semifinals of the MWC Tournament, falling 70-66, to UNLV March 12 in Las Vegas, Nev.
