Allie Will Cruises in Opener at National Indoor Tennis Championships
The Gator
rookie improved to 20-2 in her young career in advancing to the round of 16,
where she faces Boise State’s Pichittra Thongdach, who upset Oklahoma’s 71st-ranked Ana-Maria Costantinescu in her opening match of the four-day event
considered the second leg of the collegiate Grand Slam.
“Allie
played really well today,” UF head coach Roland
Thornqvist said. “She came to the net and tried
to play more indoor-type tennis, which means being more aggressive and taking
more risks. For a first day on these courts, she executed very well.”
Action
continues on Friday, when Will is schedule to play her round of 16 match at 10:30 a.m. ET. Quarterfinal round singles matches
also will be played late Friday.
