The University of Florida placed three on 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III teams for soccer

University of Florida senior quarterback Tim Tebow (Jacksonville, Fla.) was named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III First Team on Thursday. Tebow now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-American accolades.

The 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American of the Year, Tebow owns a 3.66 grade point average in family, youth and community sciences. In 2007, Tebow became the only sophomore ever to win the Heisman, Davey O'Brien and Maxwell Awards. He was a 2007 and 2008 first-team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American and became just the fourth UF football player to achieve Academic All-America recognition in consecutive seasons (Carlos Alvarez, 1969-71; Michael Gilmore, 1993-94; Danny Wuerffel, 1995-96; Tim Tebow, 2007-08).

Midway through the 2009 season, Tebow has enjoyed yet another record-breaking year his senior season as a Gator. With the 41-17 win over Georgia, Oct. 31, Florida clinched its second consecutive SEC Eastern Division title. Tebow helped lead the Gators to victory, surpassing UGA’s Herschel Walker for sole possession of the SEC record for rushing touchdowns (50) with a minute and a half to go in the first half following a 23-yard touchdown scamper.

With a four-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, his 51st career touchdown, Tebow moved into third place in Southeastern Conference history for the most touchdowns, rushing and receiving, ever scored, behind Walker (52) and Kevin Faulk of LSU (53). Tebow finished the showdown with UGA 15-of-21 with 164 yards and two touchdowns through the air, while rushing 18 times for 85 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, his first multiple passing and rushing touchdown performance of the season.

First-ranked Florida (8-0/6-0 SEC) will meet Eastern Division rival Vanderbilt (2-7/0-5 SEC) on Saturday night in Gainesville. Kickoff will be at 7:15 p.m. and the contest will be carried live on ESPN2.
