Monday October 26, 2009Women's Golf In Seventh At Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

The Florida women’s golf team is currently in seventh place after the first round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Las Vegas, Nev. The squad registered a 289 (+1) at the Boulder Creek Country Club on Monday.

 

The team was led by veteran Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.), who finished in a tie for 12th. The senior entered the turn at one-over par after collecting a birdie and two bogeys. Her final nine holes were highlighted by an eagle on the par-five 13th hole. She was one of three golfers to collect an eagle on that hole on Monday. Yadloczky finished the round at one-under 71.

 

Amelia Lewis (Jacksonville, Fla.) was just one stroke behind Yadloczky, carding an even-par 72 in her first round of play. Lewis was even through nine holes, carding three birdies and three bogies. The freshman followed her bogey on the 12th hole with a birdie on the 13th. She made a birdie on her 16th hole before making a bogey her last hole.

 

Sisters Marika and Isabelle Lendl (Bradenton, Fla.) tied for 32nd after the duo both carded a one-over 73. Marika carded two birdies and three bogeys on the afternoon. Isabelle made a bogey on her third, birdie on her fourth and a double bogey on her fifth to enter the turn at two-over. Two birdies in her next five holes put her at even-par before she made a bogey on her final hole.

 

Sophomore Evan Jensen (Belleair, Fla.) rounded out the Gators lineup in a tie for 52nd place after carding a 75 (+3). Jensen was one-under through six holes before a bogey on the seven hole moved her back to even-par. She followed a bogey on 15 with a double bogey on 16.

 

Louisville is currently atop the leaderboard with a 283 (-5), just one stroke ahead of UC Davis and Arizona, who are tied for second with a 284 (-4).
