University of Florida golfer Tyson Alexander’s (Gainesville, Fla.) run at the 109th U.S. Open Championship came to an end on Saturday, after shooting a five-over par 75 in the second round. He totaled eight-over par 148 (73-75) and missed the cut by four strokes at Bethpage State Park Black Course in Farmingdale, NY.

Alexander finished in a tie for 108th, and was the sixth-best amateur in the field. After rain delayed the first round, Alexander shot three-over par 73 on Friday morning and began his second round on hole 10 Friday evening. He sat at four-over par when play was suspended for the night.

When play resumed on Saturday, Alexander worked his way to two-over par for the second round, but a double-bogey on No. 5 and a bogey on No. 7 put him at five-over for the round and eight-over par for the Championship.

Only one former Gator made the cut on Saturday, as Camilo Villegas fired back-to-back 71s (142, +2). He is tied for 34th heading into the third round.

Fellow alums Brian Gay and Josh McCumber missed the cut on Saturday. Gay finished at six-over par 146 after carding 73 in each of the first two rounds. McCumber struggled in the first round with a 78 (+8), and totaled 11-over par 151 after a second-round 73 (+3).

Ricky Barnes leads the Championship after setting a 36-hole record at the U.S. Open at eight-under par 132.
