The University of Florida women’s tennis team earned the No. 4 seed at the Southeastern Conference Tournament that begins Thursday in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Gators (13-7, 7-4 SEC) earned a first-round bye in the four-day, 12-team event and will play the winner of the opening-round match between No. 5-seed Vanderbilt and No. 12-seed Mississippi State on Friday at 11:30 a.m. ET (10:30 a.m. CT).

Florida defeated the Commodores and the Lady Bulldogs during the regular season, posting a 5-2 victory in Nashville against Vanderbilt and a 6-1 win in Gainesville versus Mississippi State.

“We’re not as physically healthy as we would like to be right now, but we’re playing well and fighting for every point and you can’t ask for more than that from your team,” UF head coach Roland Thornqvist said.
