Friday March 6, 2009LaCaze Notches Provisional Mark in 5,000m Run

Freshman Florida distance runner Genevieve LaCaze (Queensland, Australia) notched an NCAA provisional-qualifying mark in her third different event this season, finishing second in the women’s 5,000m run on Friday at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind.

 

LaCaze, who has already notched provisional-qualifying times in the women’s mile and the women’s 3,000m run, ran a time of 16:26.81 in the 5,000m run on Friday.

 

Senior Jeremy Criscione (Interlachen, Fla.) placed ninth in the men’s 5,000m run on Friday in a time of 14:19.87.

 

Florida’s participation in the Alex Wilson Invitational continues Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. EST, while a number of Gators compete in the Virginia Tech Qualifer on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. EST in Blacksburg, Va.
