The University of Florida women’s golf team dropped both rounds by close margins at the Hooters Match Play Championships on Monday in Orlando. The 14^th seeded Lady Gators were edged out by No. 11 Texas A&M, 3-2-0 and No. 10 Georgia, 3-2-0.

Four Lady Gators claimed wins during either the first or second rounds of play on Monday. Redshirt sophomore Nicole Schachner (Libertyville, Ill.) fell to Sarah Zwartynski of Texas A&M in the first round, 6 and 5, but defeated Georgia’s Mallory Hetzel via forfeit. Redshirt junior Brittany Nelson (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) also claimed a win in the second round, defeating Carolina Andrade, 1-up. Nelson came up short in a close match with Texas A&M’s Lauren Johnson in the first round with a score of 2 and 1.

Freshmen Evan Jensen (Belleair, Fla.) and Andrea Watts (Bradenton, Fla.) both claimed victories against the Aggies in the first round. Jensen defeated Alexa Porter, 2 and 1, while Watts was victorious over Ashley Freeman, 1-up. Both golfers fell in the second round with Jensen being defeated in a well-fought match, 1-up, by Marta Silva and Watts falling to Tess Fordham, 3 and 2.

Redshirt sophomore Lauren Uzelatz (Lakeland, Fla.) fell to Texas A&M’s Crystal Reeves, 6 and 4, and Georgia’s Leigh Crosby, 3 and 2.
