Saturday September 27, 2008W. Golf Heads Into Final Round of Mason Rudolph in Seventh

The Lady Gator golf team fell one spot on the leader board to seventh place on Saturday at the Mason Rudolph Womenís Championships. Despite the short fall in the standings, the squad compiled another notable score with an eight-over 296 for a two-round total score of 588 (+12). The team is on track to have their best finish of the year, with their two best scores coming in the first and second rounds at the Legends Club.

 

Sophomore Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.) led the Lady Gators for the second consecutive day, shooting an even-par 72 for a total score of 143 (-1).† Yadloczky, currently in a tie for 13th place, collected three birdies on the afternoon.

 

True freshman Evan Jensen (Belleair, Fla.) continues to impress, carding a one-over 73 and landing in a tie for 25th. With her 73 from the first round, Jensen holds a two-day score of 146 (+2).

 

Despite struggling on her first nine holes with three bogeys and one triple bogey, redshirt junior Brittany Nelson (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) showed her resiliency and rallied back to make two birdies on the back nine to card a four-over 76. Her total score of 149 (+5) is good for a tie for 36th. Sophomore Hannah Yun (Bradenton, Fla.) has played consistently thus far, carding a three-over 75 in the first and second rounds. Yun is currently tied for 42nd place with a total score of 150 (75-75, +6).

 

Newcomer Andrea Watts (Bradenton, Fla.) was challenged in her first nine holes, collecting bogeys on her first and fourth holes, but fought back on the final nine holes to collect three birdies and three pars and finish the second round with a four-over 76. She is currently tied for 62nd place with a two-day score of 154 (78-76, +10).

 

The most improved player of the second round was redshirt sophomore Lauren Uzelatz (Lakeland, Fla.) who improved her score by nine strokes. Uzelatz, competing as an individual, carded a four-over 76 for a total score of 161 (85-76, +17). She is currently tied for 83rd.

 

UCLA jumped one spot on the leaderboard, finishing the second round in first place with a team total score of 562 (287-275, -14). Vanderbiltís Megan Grehan climbed her way to the top of the individual leaderboard after shooting an impressive seven-under par 65 in the second round for a total score of 136 (71-65). Syndee Michaels of UCLA shot the only hole-in-one of the tournament on the par-3, 162-yard 16th hole.
