The 18th-ranked University of Florida men's golf team tied for fourth in the final team standing at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational at the Forest Heights Country Club. The fourth-place finish matches the Gators' finish in the 1999 edition of the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational.
The Gators turned in a 12-over par 300 Sunday to finish with a three-round total of 861, sharing the fourth position with Duke. Georgia claimed the tournament title at 829 after posting a three-under team total of 285 on Sunday. Clemson was second at 846, while North Carolina State took third at 852.
Georgia's Bubba Watson completed the sweep of top tournament honors for the Bulldogs by claiming the individual title with a three-round total of 13-under par 203. He shot a final round of two-under par 70.
Sophomore Camilo Benedetti (Medellin, Colombia/Instituto Jorge Robledo) was the low Gator for the tournament, turning in an even-par 72 Sunday to finish tied for 12th overall at 212. Sophomore Taylor Walsh (Napanoch, N.Y./Ellenville) finished with a three-round total of 213 after his final round of 75 to tie for 16th overall. Freshman Bubba Dickerson (Hilliard, Fla./West Nassau) and junior Ben Banks (England/King Edwards School) each turned in final rounds of 77. Dickerson finished tied for 32nd overall at 219, while Banks tied for 39th at 220. Also tying for 39th at 220 was junior Nick Gilliam (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville), who turned in a round of 76 on Sunday.
Next up, the Gators head south of the border to compete in the U.S. Collegiate Golf Championships in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Play begins April 7.
