FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

After capping an impressive season with a ninth place finish at the 2008 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships, the accolades continue for the players and coaches of the University of Florida women’s golf team. The National Golf Coaches Association announced its student-athlete and coaches awards on May 23.

Head coach Jill Briles-Hinton was one of three coaches named Division I SkyCaddie NGCA Regional Coach of the Year. Leading the Lady Gators to their first ever regional title, Briles-Hinton was honored as Coach of the Year for the Eastern Region. She was also named the 2008 SEC Coach of the Year and led the Lady Gators to their fifth top-10 finish at the NCAAs during her 10-year reign as head coach.

Assistant head coach Robin Walton was also honored by the NCGA as the 2008 Assistant Golf Coach of the Year. In her eighth season with Florida, the Lady Gators have finished in the top half of the SEC Championships each year and six top-10 finishes at the NCAA regionals, including SEC and regional titles in 2008, and have finished in the top-10 at the NCAA Championships five times in their last six appearances.

Freshman Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.) earned two honors, receiving second team All-America and All-Region recognition by the NGCA. Yadloczky capped her first season at Florida in impressive fashion, garnering first-team All-SEC honors, in addition to being named to the SEC All-Freshman team. She ended the season ranked 18th in the nation according to Golfweek’s Individual Ranking Index. Next, she will help represent Team USA at the 2008 Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Championship.

Also earning All-America and All-Region honors was senior Tiffany Chudy (Miramar, Fla.). Chudy received honorable mention All-America honors, in addition to leading the Lady Gators at the 2008 NCAA Championships, finishing in 27th place. In 36 rounds this season, Chudy has averaged 74.4 strokes. She broke the low-tournament school record (209) as a senior at the 2008 SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational.

Another Lady Gator earning post-season honors was freshman Hannah Yun (Bradenton, Fla.). Receiving honorable mention All-America honors, Yun had an extraordinary first season for the Orange and Blue. She went head-to-head with defending NCAA champion Stacy Lewis of Arkansas at the SEC Championship and captured runner-up honors, shooting just one stroke behind Lewis. Yun was named to the SEC All-Freshman team and also received first team All-SEC honors. She ended the season with two top-10 and three top-25 tournament finishes for the Gators.
