The NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Committee unveiled the 2008 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships draws on Tuesday, featuring four members of the University of Florida squad.


Sophomore Csilla Borsanyi (Hungary) and Julia Cohen (Philadelphia, Pa.) were selected to compete in the 64-player singles event that gets underway on Wednesday, while the pair of Megan Alexander (Dallas, Texas) and Marrit Boonstra (Netherlands) earned a spot in the 32-team doubles tournament that begins on Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.


Borsanyi, a sophomore who is ranked No. 33 nationally, will be making her second appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship after advancing to the quarterfinals her rookie season and collecting All-America honors. Borsanyi, who plays California’s Claire Ilcinkas in the opening round, enters Wednesday’s action with a 49-22 career record, including a 20-11 mark this season.


Cohen is a freshman, who is ranked No. 29 in the country and played the No. 1 singles position in the dual match lineup this year for the Gators, drew sixth-seeded Amanda Fink of Southern California in the first round.


The doubles team of Alexander and Boonstra are the No. 8-ranked pair in the country and earned the 5-8 seeding. The Gator tandem, which has logged a 15-3 record playing the No. 1 dual match position, begins the 32-team event against Fresno State’s Renata Kucerkova and Anastasia Petukhova.


In all, a Gator has won four NCAA Singles titles and four NCAA Doubles crowns. Shaun Stafford (1988), Lisa Raymond (1992 & 1993) and Jill Craybas (1996) captured singles titles, while the doubles teams of Nicole Arendt & Jillian Alexander (1991), Dawn Buth & Stephanie Nickitas (1996 & 1997) and Whitney Laiho & Jessica Lehnhoff (2001) collected championships while wearing the Orange & Blue.
