Sunday March 30, 2008No. 5 UF Women's Golf Overtakes No. 1 Duke To Win Bryan Park National Collegiate

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C.

The fifth-ranked Florida women’s golf team had the low round for the second-straight day to claim the top spot at the 11th annual Bryan Park National Collegiate at the Players Course.  The Lady Gators shot a 19-over 307 in the final round to give the team a two shot lead over No. 1 Duke.  With the victory, UF claimed its third tournament win of the season and second of the spring. 

 

Trailing Duke by one stroke going into the final day, UF rallied back to finish the tournament with a 906 (+45).  After shooting 22 over in the final round, Duke completed the tournament at 44-over 908, one shot over Auburn, who finished the tournament in third place with a 45-over 909.

 

Freshman Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.) climbed up the standings throughout the tournament, finally landing in a tie for fifth.  Yadloczky shot a one-under 71 on the final day to finish with a total of 224 (+8).  The freshman played her final six holes of the day at 3-under par with three birdies.  Arkansas’ Stacy Lewis maintained her lead throughout the tournament, shooting a 77 (+5) on the final day to seal the individual victory with a final score of 216 (E). 

 

Senior Tiffany Chudy (Miramar, Fla.) finished second among the Lady Gators in a tie for 10th, as she put up a final score of a 10-over 227.  Her score of 72 on the final day helped her to climb from 35th place after the conclusion of the first day. 

 

Redshirt Junior Ornella Jouven (La Ciotat, France) finished in a tie for 17th after shooting a 10-over 82 on the final day.  She finished the tournament with a score of 229 (+13).  Freshman Hannah Yun (Bradenton, Fla.) claimed a tie for 29th after shooting a 10-over 82 on the final round, giving her a tournament total score of 16-over 232. 

 

Redshirt freshman Nicole Schachner (Libertyville, Ill.), competing as an individual, recorded a three-round 233 to finish the competition in a tie for 34th place, just one stroke behind teammate Yun.  Senior Whitney Myers (East Berlin, Pa.) shot a 10-over 82 in the final round, finishing in a tie for 45th with a 19-over 235.  

 

The Lady Gators return to action April 18-20 when the University of Tennessee plays host in the Southeastern Conference Championship in Loudon, TN.
