Wednesday March 15, 2000Gator Baseball Blasts Fordham 25-1

Gainesville, FL

Florida pounded out 24 hits while holding Fordham to three hits in a 25-1 blowout Wednesday night at McKethan Stadium.

Five Gator batters had at least three hits in the victory that improved the Gators to 14-11. Aaron Soberiaj (pictured) went 5-for-5, tying the school record for hits in a game, with five RBI and four runs scored.. Soberiaj moved to pitcher for the final inning and had one strikeout on the mound.

Jay Belflower started for the Gators and picked up the win moving to 3-2 on the season. Four Gator relievers finished the game with out allowing a Fordham run.

Mark Kiger got the hit parade started with a leadoff single and the Gator hitters never looked back. Kiger went 4-for-6 on the night. Peter Nystrom continued his hot hitting going 3-for-5 in the game with three runs and two RBI.

Fordham starter Vincent Reyes (0-3) took the loss for the Rams who are now 2-6.
