Ole Miss scored 10 runs in their first two at bats and withheld a four-run
ninth inning comeback from Florida to win 15-12 Saturday night at McKethan
Stadium. Ole Miss improves to 12-5, 2-0 in the SEC, while Florida dropped
to 11-11, 0-2.
Ole Miss’ Glen Morris pitched three strong innings of relief to pick up
his first victory on the season. Morris gave up only one hit and one run
in his relief appearance. Shortstop Justin Huisman came in to get the
final out of the ballgame with two runners on base to pickup his fourth
save of the season.
Florida starter Jay Bellflower fell to 2-2 on the season after taking the
loss in only two-thirds of an inning of work. Florida leftfielder Peter
Nystrom led the offensive attack for the Gators going 3-for-4 with two
home runs and had five RBI.
