Monday October 29, 2007Florida Football Prepares For Vanderbilt
University of Florida head coach Urban Meyer and several players met with the media Monday to discuss their thoughts on the upcoming game against Vanderbilt:
Head Coach Urban Meyer
The ideal thing we have to get across is to get this thing done. I have never seen anything like what is going on in the SEC East. I guess it is only my third year so I do not have that many years of wisdom but at this point, we have everything in the world to play for. We do not have many seniors, but they have the chance to play in their final homecoming game, which we make a big deal out of. We have Gator Growl where we get to introduce them for the last time to their friends and families and we have the captain's dinner. It is a great week and this team we will be playing is excellent. Vanderbilt is by far the best Vanderbilt team that we have faced. Every team right now is, or if not close to, being bowl-eligible, so it is going to be a fight. We have to finish it off and this will be a heck of a game.
Quarterback Tim Tebow
On Vanderbilt’s defense:
“They have a really good defense. They have had a lot of big games and can really shut down the offense. They played a great game against Georgia and South Carolina. They had three or four picks against South Carolina. They will be a tough challenge for us and we have to get better and play better than we did last week.”
“Losing is definitely tough, especially around here. Right now our main focus is that we have four games left. Sticking together as a team is our main focus right now. Winning these next four games is important and you never know what can happen in the SEC. We are just trying to come out and play hard. The three we lost are in the past and there is nothing we can do about it now. The only thing we can control is the future and how we come out in practice and finish out the season. We need to stick together and recharge.”
