North Carolina Greensboro freshman Ryan Gordon held Florida hitless over
four innings en route to a four-hitter over seven innings as the Spartans
defeated Florida 12-4 at McKethan Stadium Wednesday. Florida dropped to 7-
8 on the season, while the Spartans improved to 6-5.
UNCG jumped out on Florida starter Aaron Sobieraj (0-1), scoring three
runs on three in hits knocking the freshman hurler out of the game before
the end of the first inning. The Spartans continued to score throughout
the game, scoring eight runs on three different Gator pitchers.
Gordon (1-0) held the Gators to just four hits, allowing three runs (one
earned) with six strikeouts. Three of the four Florida runs were unearned
on the night.
Chris Mittendork and Nelson Mayton each had three hits for the Spartans.
Jason Dill led Florida with two hits.
Florida returns to action Friday for a three-game series with
Massachusetts.
