Thursday July 12, 2007Former Gator Heaston To Throw Shot Put At Pan American Games

Gainesville, FL

Former University of Florida All-American Kristin Heaston is scheduled to compete in the shot put at the XV Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro. The Games run from July 13-29, and the shot put contest will be held on Friday, July 27, at 3:30 p.m. EST.

 

Heaston recently captured her third U.S. outdoor title in the shot put, winning the event at the 2007 AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a throw of 18.74m/61-5.75 on her fourth attempt. She also won the crown in both 2003 and 2005.

 

A three-time All-American in the shot put at UF, Heaston will head to Rio de Janeiro as the world’s 17th-ranked shot putter. In addition to her U.S. title, she also finished third at the Torino Memorial Primo Neboli in Torino, Italy, on June 6 with a mark of 18.18m/59-7.75.
