PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.

The University of Florida men's golf team has continued its hot streak and is leading the University of North Florida Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship by three strokes after two rounds of action Monday. Sophomore Camilo Benedetti (Medellin, Colombia/Instituto Jorge Robledo) leads the individual race by one stroke.

The Gators, coming off last weekend's victory at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, fired rounds of 280-294 to finish the day at 2-under-par 574. They are currently three strokes ahead of 14th-ranked North Florida (577). The field also includes three other ranked opponents, No. 4 Northwestern (596), No. 12 South Carolina (603) and No. 13 Augusta State (596).

Benedetti carded rounds of 67-71 to head to the clubhouse at 6-under-par 138 to lead the tournament. Freshman Bubba Dickerson (Hilliard, Fla./West Nassau) posted rounds of 70-73 for a 1-under-par 143 total and a tie for fifth while sophomore Taylor Walsh (Napanoch, N.Y./Ellenville) shot 72-74 to finish at 2-over-par 146 and is tied for 12th. Junior Nick Gilliam (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville) had rounds of 71-79--150 and is currently tied for 25th while junior Ben Banks (England/King Edwards) finished at 79-76--155 (tied for 52nd).

"We had a good day," said head coach Buddy Alexander. "Our guys played great and I am very pleased with their effort. North Florida is a great team and we will just have to play a solid round tomorrow."

The Gators are the defending champions at the tournament, holding off host-UNF by one stroke last year.

The tournament is being held at the Sawgrass Country Club, a par 72, 6,895-yard layout.

The final round of action will be Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
