Top-ranked Florida State scored 17 runs on 20 hits to hand Florida its
second consecutive loss Sunday in front of 4,809 fans at McKethan Stadium.
The Seminoles scored 32 runs in the series on 34 hits, sweeping Florida on
the road for the first time since 1993.
Mike Ziegler (3-0) got the win for the Seminoles, allowing three runs on
four hits with four strikeouts. Craig Mosher took the loss for the Gators,
allowing seven runs on seven hits over three innings.
Karl Jernigan, who went 4-for-6 with three RBI, led off the game with a
home run, starting a string of seven consecutive innings that FSU would
score in the game. Left fielder Chris Smith alos had four hits on the
Kurt Keene led the Florida attack with four hits on the day. Jason Dill and
Pete Nystrom each hit home runs for the Gators.
Florida will return to action Tuesday against FAMU before playing FSU in a
two-game series in Tallahassee starting Saturday.
