UF?s Stacey Roller & Inga George (w/ plaque) receive the SEATA Athletic Training Dept. of Year award

The Southeast Athletic Training Association (SEATA) 2007 Athletic Training Department of the Year award was given to the University Athletic Association last Saturday in Cool Springs, Tenn. In addition, Chris Patrick, the head of the UAA's Athletic Training department, was inducted as a member of the inaugural class for the SEATA Hall of Fame.

The recognition of the entire UAA athletic training program is a first by SEATA. The association traditionally recognizes a SEATA Athletic Trainer of the Year, but felt the success of the overall Florida athletic program warranted recognition of the entire UAA staff.

Patrick, UF's Assistant Athletics Director - Sports Health, has been a part of the Gator staff since 1970. Patrick is an integral part of the University of Florida's total sports medicine staff.  He supervises a staff of 10 full-time athletic trainers and two full-time dieticians that are responsible to care for and to provide prevention and rehabilitation of injuries for each Gator student-athlete. Patrick also administers the alcohol and drug testing program and handles the travel logistics for the Gator football team.

Patrick is also a part of three other Hall of Fames - National Athletic Trainer's Association (1989), Florida Athletic Trainer's Association (1995) and the University of Florida Athletic (1994).
