Gainesville, FL

Freshman forward Justin Hamilton scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half and Mike Miller (pictured left)had 13 points to help spark the tenth-ranked University of Florida men's basketball team to an 89-63 win over Vanderbilt Saturday.

The Gators shot 69 percent from the field in the second half while holding the Commodores to just 34 percent for the game.

The Gators used a 25-11 run to begin the second half after leading 35-25 at the intermission.

"I was just totally impressed and happy with the effort our guys gave", said Gator coach Billy Donovan. "If these guys will, for 40 minutes every game, give that type of effort...and we can get better on the execution...we'll continue to improve."

Donovan especially liked the way the Gators guarded the perimeter after giving up 15 treys in the Jan. 5 loss at Vanderbilt. "They mady some three's when the game was out of hand in the second half, but first half they were only one for eight."

Udonis Haslem, Donnell Harvey and Brent Wright each scored ll points. Dan Langhi led Vanderbilt with 26 points.

The Gators are now 12-0 on the year when leading at the half. Florida, now 15-4 overall and 4-2 in the SEC, will next play at South Carolina on Wednesday night. Tip-off is at 7:30.
