The sixth-ranked men's basketball team had its nine-game winning streak halted in Nashville Wednesday night to the hands of Vanderbilt by a score of 87-77. Vanderbilt made 15-23 three-point shots in the SEC opener for both teams.

Vanderbilt senior forward Dan Langhi scored a season-high 31 points and Sam Howard chipped in with 22 as the Commodores shot 65 percent from beyond the arc and made 18-24 free throws. Mike Miller led the Gators with 18 points while Udonis Haslem (pictured left) had 16.

"It was a disappointing performance by our basketball team on the road for the first time," said Gator coach Billy Donovan. "We were just dominated from start to finish".

Florida trailed 41-33 at the half. They fell behind 58-44 in the third quarter before going on a 7-0 run that trimmed the Commodores' lead to seven points. However, Vanderbilt's next five baskets were all three-pointers, two by Langhi and three by Howard, which increased their lead to 74-60.

"Vandy's the kind of team, in my opinion, that if you let them get going early and they start making three's, it generally ends up snowballing", said Donovan.

The Gators will try to rebound Saturday on Saturday afternoon against Mississippi in a 3:00 start in Oxford, Miss.
