Freshman Alicia Miller (Hobie Sound, Fla.)
just missed qualifying for her first NCAA Championships in the women’s
three-meter dive on Saturday at the Zone B qualifier. Miller finished 12th in
the event with a score of 549.55. She finish tallied a score of 274.80 in the
preliminary dive earlier in the day.
“Alicia was exceptional
diving coach Donnie Crainesaid. “She is diving better than she did at the conference meet. She may
not make it to the NCAA championships but she is stepping up her performances.”
On the men’s side, freshman Jonathan Wilcox (Yarrow Point, Wash.)
recorded 565.05 points
in the one-meter dive to finish in 11th place. Junior Justin Schmidt (Falcon,
18th in the same event with a score of 521.00.
divers will have one more chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships on
Sunday during the platform dive. The competition is scheduled to begin at noon.
