Saturday December 4, 1999Men's BB Holds A&M to Just 44 points in Win
Kenyan Weaks hit his first basket two and a half minutes into Florida's game against Florida A&M on Saturday. The Rattlers never could figure out how to stop the Gator senior the rest of the way. Weaks led the Gator offense with 23 points on a perfect night from the field while Florida's trademark opportunistic defense corralled A&M to the second-lowest point total during the shot clock era by a Gator opponent. The result was a 96-44 win for Florida in front of 7476 at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
Weaks hit all eight of his field goals on the day, including three from behind the three-point arc and sank four of four free throws to earn his 23 for the game. His line also included five rebounds and a season high four steals in the most complete game by an individual for the Gators so far in the 1999-2000 season.
The Gators caused 35 turnovers during the game, the third highest total since 1966 and converted them into 43 points, adding up to nearly the entire 52-point margin in the final score.
Florida is off until next Saturday, Dec. 11, when they will face Bethune-Cookman in a 4 p.m. game at the O'Connell Center.
