Senior outside hitter Jane Collymore (Englewood, Colo.) finished with a match-high 18 kills, while sophomore middle blocker Kisya Killingsworth (Deltona, Fla.) set career highs in kills and blocks as No. 8 Florida cruised past Missouri State 3-0 (30-20, 30-21, 30-23) before a crowd of 1,833 fans at the Aquafina Volleyball Invitational on Friday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

Collymore also added two aces to move her to ninth in school history, while Killingsworth finished with 11 kills. She also recorded a career-high six block assists and blazed to a career high .733 hitting percentage. Collymore's match-high 20.5 points guided the Gators to their third win of the season in straight games.

Florida out-hit Missouri State .291-.086, while also piling up 11.0 total blocks. The Gators also finished with more digs than the Bears with 43-39.

"Missouri State is a great blocking team and for us to hit .291 against them and out-block them means we had a very good overall performance," Florida coach Mary Wise said.

The Gators fought back and forth in the first stanza vs. MSU with Florida holding a slight advantage until the latter stages of the game when UF scored the final seven points. After the Bears came within three at 23-20, the Gators went on a 7-0 run behind the blistering serve of Collymore, who along with sophomore Amber McCray (Longview, Texas), had a pair of kills in the stretch. Collymore led the Gators with eight kills on .500 hitting.

Florida dominated from start to finish in the second game. The Gators raced out to a 5-1 lead and never looked back the rest of the way. Missouri State narrowed the game to one at 14-13, but Florida scored five of the next six points and seven of the next nine to move ahead 24-16. McCray eventually put the Bears away on a kill at 30-21. Collymore led the Gators with six kills on .545 hitting in the game, while Engel added nine digs.

After jumping out to an 8-3 lead in the third game, Missouri State fought back to take the lead midway through before surrendering it to the Gators who sealed the match at 30-23. The Bears led as late as 22-21, but Florida scored eight of the final 10 points to close the match. Behind the serve of Collymore, the Gators tallied the final seven points as both she and McCray had a pair of kills in the stretch. Killingsworth led the Gators with six kills on seven attempts in the game, while senior Rachel Engel (Littleton, Colo.) added six digs with Florida recording five total blocks in the game.

The Aquafina Volleyball Invitational concludes on Saturday with Dayton taking on Missouri State at 1 p.m. followed by Florida and UCSB at 3:30 p.m. Florida's match will be webcast live on www.GatorZone.com.

Due to the heavy traffic flow for the Gator football opener at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at 6 p.m., there will be a shuttle service available from the Oaks Mall. The shuttle will begin service at 2:30 p.m. from Macy's and will drop fans off at the O'Connell Center.

Florida def. Dayton 3-0

Sophomore Marcie Hampton (Gainesville, Fla.) posted a match-high 13 kills to lead the No. 8 University of Florida volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-25, 30-26, 30-16) win against Dayton in the second match of the Aquafina Volleyball Invitational on Friday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

Florida (2-0) finished with more kills (51-41), digs (52-36) and total blocks (5.0-3.0) than Dayton (2-2) as the teams met for just the second time ever with the Gators claiming both wins. Junior Stefanie Douglas, (Belton, Texas) also had a stellar match as she was just one shy of her career best for kills as she tallied 10 on .375 hitting. Junior Rachel Engel (Littleton, Colo.) added 20 digs, while senior Jane Collymore (Englewood, Colo.) added eight kills and 14 digs.

Amanda Kenny led Dayton with 11 kills on .333 hitting.

UCSB def. Dayton 3-0

Janine Sandell lead all players with 21 kills in guiding No. 15 UC-Santa Barbara to a 3-0 win (30-17, 30-15, 30-28) against Dayton in the third match of the Aquafina Volleyball Invitational.

UCSB (2-0) wasn't threatened in the match until the third game, while out-hitting Dayton .290-.057 and finishing with more kills (51-29) and blocks (10.0-8.0).

Robynne Green paced Dayton (2-3) with nine kills and four digs.

UCSB def. Missouri State 3-2

Earlier in the afternoon, No. 15 UCSB rallied from a 2-0 deficit to come back and win in five games 3-2 (25-30, 29-31, 30-25, 30-27, 18-16) against Missouri State in the opening match of the Aquafina Volleyball Invitational Friday morning.

The Gauchos fought off a total of four match points in the final game after the Bears (2-2) had built a 14-11 advantage to win their debut match of the 2005 season. Janine Sandell led UCSB with 33 kills and 27 digs, while Emily Hendrickson added 22 kills and 28 digs.

Erin O'Connor paced Missouri State with 21 kills and 16 digs, while Katie Werges added 17 kills and four digs.
