Cheerleading Tryout Requirements

You must be a full-time UF student or incoming student with an official letter of acceptance from the University of Florida.

** If you have applied as a transfer student and will not find out if you will be accepted till June 2015 for the Fall 2015 semester, you ARE permitted to tryout. Please bring an online printout of your "Application Status" to tryouts.

Minimum Skill Abilities are as Follows

Female minimum requirements

  • Stunting
    • Toss chair
    • Toss toe touch
    • Shoulder sit
    • Opposite Leg Chair
    • Walk In Chair
    • Toe Touch Pop Off from Chair
  • Tumbling
    • Standing Back Handspring
    • Roundoff Back Handspring Series
    • Note: All tumbling will be performed on a wooden surface; mats will be on hand during warm-ups.

Male minimum requirements

  • Stunting
    • Toss chair
    • Toss toe touch
    • Shoulder sit
  • Tumbling
    • Roundoff
    • Handstand

Participants will also be judged on interview, crowd appeal, and cheer skills.

Schedule of Tryouts:

Friday, May 15th (6:00pm-9:00pm)

Saturday, May 16th (9:00am-6:00pm)

Sunday, May 17th FINALS (8:30am-3:00pm)

  • Final Cut
  • Team Announcement
  • New Team Meeting

All times are subject to change.

What To Wear

Friday & Saturday:

  • (Females) Sports Bra and Spandex shorts, cheer shoes, and bow.
  • (Males) T-Shirt and Athletic shorts. Cheer or Athletic shoes.

**Must be the same outfit for both Friday and Saturday.

Sunday FINALS:

  • (Females) BLACK Sports Bra and BLACK Spandex shorts, cheer shoes, WHITE bow. 
  • (Males) PLAIN BLACK T-Shirt and BLACK Athletic shorts. Cheer or Athletic shoes.

2015-16 Downloads


The University Athletic Association, the Gatortown Gators and Mr. 2 Bits provide partial scholarships for both the Orange and Blue Teams at the end of each semester. These scholarships are awarded based on years of participation, scholastic achievement and financial need. The UAA has no way of offering students scholarships prior to them being accepted into the University of Florida or making the team.


UF College Prep Clinics

  • April 12th 9:00am - 11:30am
  • May 2nd 9:00am - 11:30am

9th grade to 17 years of age @ 8:30am
18 years of age and ABOVE @ 8:45am


Lemerand Athletic Center located on Stadium Road

** Closest parking options are the James G. Pressley Track Stadium or Stephen C. O’Connell Center


Open to participants 9th grade and above. These clinics are for those that are interested in preparing to tryout for collegiate cheerleading in the future.

What to Bring

  • Medical Waiver
  • Copy of Current Physical (CAN NOT participate without it)
  • 4x6 Current Picture
  • $50 (Cash ONLY)

** If you attended the College Prep Clinic on April 12th, 2015, you DO NOT need to bring your paperwork again for the May 2nd Prep College Clinic. We will have that paperwork on file.
