Peter Davis is in his first season with the University of Florida as a volunteer assistant and will oversee the Gator goalkeepers.
Davis was a graduate assistant with Mercer University’s women’s soccer team for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Mercer goalkeeper Cagney Valloch was named to the 2010 Atlantic Sun All-Tournament team and was second in the conference in 2010 with a goals-against-average of 0.79. In 2011, Mercer goalkeeper Nikki Atkinson led the A-Sun with her GAA of 0.74. Prior to joining the Bear staff, Davis was an assistant and the goalkeeper’s coach for Pfeiffer University’s 2009 men’s team. At Pfeiffer, Davis helped guide the team to their best record in program history and aided in two all conference honors for both the men’s and women’s goalkeepers.
Davis, a native of Seneca, S.C., played two seasons in goal at USC Upstate after transferring from Spartanburg Methodist College. He was named a team captain in three of his four years as a player. He also played for the Vermont Voltage of the Premier Development League (PDL) in 2007 and 2008. Davis also holds several coaching licenses through the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and was heavily involved in the North Carolina Olympic Development Program.
Davis received his degree in sports management from USC Upstate in 2009 and his master’s degree in education from Mercer University in December 2011.
