2006-07 In a Nutshell...
- National titles in football and men’s basketball paced the University of Florida athletics
program to a sixth-place finish overall in the 2006-07 Sports Academy
Directors' Cup competition. The national all-sports competition award is presented
annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA),
United States Sports Academy and USA Today. The finish marks Florida's 24th consecutive
position among the nation's top-10 programs. Florida and UCLA are the
only schools to finish in the top 10 in national all-sports rankings every year since
1983-84. - Florida’s finish in the Director’s Cup standings (sixth) was the highest by any school
in the SEC. This was the fourth-straight year the Gators finished sixth or higher. - A total of 11 Gator athletic teams finished in the top 10 of their respective sports,
including five finishes in the top five. Florida won six SEC Championships in 2006-
07, giving it a league-high 44 titles in the last 10 years. The Gators led the league with
six SEC titles: men’s basketball, football, gymnastics, soccer, volleyball and women's
SEC Champions tennis.
