2011: Started all 20 games for the Gators, anchoring the Florida defense with 27 ground balls, adding 11 draw controls and eight caused turnovers … Named Second Team All-America by WomensLacrosse.com and IWLCA Second Team All-South Region … Named to the 2011 ALC All-Tournament Team and First Team All-ALC … Earned ALC Defensive Player of the Week honors and a WomensLacrosse.com Honor Roll nod for her performance against Georgetown and Temple, holding Georgetown’s 2011 IWLCA All-Region honoree Jordy Kirr to only two goals and three shots when she was previously averaging over double both of those totals … Notched a draw control against Duke in NCAA Quarterfinals … Had two ground balls and a caused turnover against Stanford in the NCAA First Round … Had two ground balls and two caused turnovers against Cornell … Stellar in the midfield against No. 17 Vanderbilt, notching two ground balls … Was incredible in the midfield, helping the Gators defeat No. 2 Northwestern, while adding a ground ball … Had a ground ball and a caused turnover against Johns Hopkins … Notched a ground ball against No. 16 Penn State while holding Theresa Zichelli to only one assist … Started against Ohio State, controlling the midfield for the Gators … Had two ground balls against Fairfield while adding a draw control and a caused turnover … Had two ground balls against No. 11 Syracuse while controlling the game in Florida’s midfield … Won a draw control against Colgate … Led the team in draw controls against Temple with three, while also causing a turnover … Notched a team-high four ground balls against Georgetown … Had two ground balls against Lehigh … Won two draw controls against UMBC … Caused her first turnover of the season against Denver … Started against Jacksonville, leading the team in ground balls with a career-high six … Started and recorded one ground ball vs. UNC … Named to the SEC and ALC Academic Honor Rolls.

2010: Started all 18 games for the Gators and became a key defensive player in the latter part of the season … Second on the team in draw controls (23) and fourth in ground balls (19) … Scored six goals on the season with one assist and also caused 10 turnovers … Caused one turnover and had one ground ball and a draw control in the ALC Semifinal loss to No. 10 Vanderbilt … Controlled one draw and picked up one ground ball in the ALC Tournament win over No. 20 Johns Hopkins … Had one ground ball and one draw control in the loss at No. 2 Northwestern … Controlled one draw in the loss to No. 8 Vanderbilt … Started at midfield in the 2OT loss at Colgate … Had four draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers in the win at Le Moyne … Named the ALC Defensive Player of the Week after her performance against No. 14 Penn State and Oregon … Recorded two draw controls against Penn State and limited PSU’s Jen Steadman to zero shots on the day … Had a ground ball and a caused turnover in the win over Oregon … Recorded two ground balls and two draw controls in loss at No. 17 Ohio State … Recorded a ground ball, one draw control and a caused turnover in the win over Cornell … Had two ground balls and caused three turnovers in the win over No. 17 New Hampshire … Recorded two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers in the win over Marist … Had three ground balls and a draw control in the loss at JHU … Scored twice and had a pair of draw controls in the loss to No. 5 Georgetown … Had two goals, one assist and five draw controls against SBU … Started in the midfield at No. 4 North Carolina and had two shots in the loss … Had two shots and a ground ball in the win at La Salle … Scored the first-ever goal for UF and added another in the win over Jacksonville … Named to the SEC Freshman and ALC Academic Honor Rolls.

Before Florida: Three-year member of the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Region and State Champion Severna Park High School … Played for Coach Carin Peterson … Recorded 45 goals, 10 assists, 53 ground balls, 40 draw controls and seven interceptions during her senior campaign … School had a 47-game win streak snapped during her senior year, going 20-0 the previous two seasons … Named a US Lacrosse First-Team All-American and Under Armour All-American … Won the 2009 Annapolis Capital Gazette Player of the Year award … Selected First-Team All-Metro by the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun and Digital Sports … Earned First-Team Coaches’ All-Anne Arundel County recognition in 2007 and 2009 and Second-Team in 2008 … Named to the Annapolis Capital and Baltimore Sun Second-Team All-County in 2008 … Nominated for the 2008 Tewaaraton Award … Member of the Chesapeake Club Lacrosse (CC LAX) ’09 Black club team … Named to All-Galaxy First-Team in 2007 and 2008 … Also played soccer in high school.

Personal: Born Samantha Rose Farrell on Feb. 19, 1991, in Annapolis, Maryland … Daughter of Tom and Christina Farrell … Has three brothers, Joe, Tommy and Andrew … Member of the National Honor Society … Was named to the Honor Roll and the Principal’s Honor Roll and had a 3.6 GPA … Won the Minds in Motion Scholarship from 2006-09 … Also considered UNC, Johns Hopkins, Maryland and Notre Dame … Chose Florida because of the great academic achievement, awesome athletic programs and beautiful campus.
