Milan Stanovich, a five-time USA National Team Coach with more than 15 years of coaching experience, is in his third season with the Gator program. Stanovich, who joined the Gator program in July of 1999, coordinates recruiting and the UF gymnastics conditioning program in addition to his coaching duties.
Stanovich came to UF from Franklin, Tenn., where he has served as the head women's coach of the Let It Shine Gymnastics club since 1997. He was the owner and head women's coach at Karon's Gymnastics in Burke, Va., from 1983-95, the same club program that produced UF's three-time uneven bars All-American Sybil Stephenson. A total of 33 gymnasts that trained under Stanovich received college scholarships. Stanovich has lectured at the USAG National Congress on two occasions and is a two-time National team uneven bars clinician.
Stanovich received his bachelor's degree in education from the University of Michigan in 1983. He was a member of the Wolverine's gymnastics team from 1979-83.
He is married to the former Heidi Anderson, who was the 1981 AIAW floor exercise champion at Penn State and claimed the 1984 NCAA balance beam crown at Oregon State. They are the parents of Scott Milan Stanovich (2) and Robert Max, who was born Feb. 16, 2001.
