AS A SENIOR (1999) - Opened the season with back-to-back vault wins...also
won the balance beam title at the Gatorade SEC Showcase...tore anterior cruciate
ligament of left knee during floor routine at Georgia and missed the remainder
of the season...honored with UF President's Recognition of Outstanding Students...member
of the Academic All-Southeastern Conference Honor Roll for the third consecutive
year. AS A JUNIOR (1998) - NCAA vault champion, sharing the 1998 title
with Stanford's Larissa Fontaine with identical average scores of 9.8625...fourth
gymnast in NCAA history to repeat as vault champion...first gymnast of the 1998
NCAA Championships to earn a 10.0 mark, posting the score for her pike front
with a half twist vault in the NCAA team competition...also earned a 10.0 in the
NCAA Super Six vault competition - the only gymnast to earn multiple 10.0s in
NCAA Championships competition...also advanced to the NCAA floor exercise final,
tying for 8th in the final (9.875)...earned two All-America first-team honors...posted
collegiate-best balance beam mark of 9.90 in the NCAA Super Six competition
to lead UF on that event...runner-up in the NCAA Southeast Region and SEC vault
competitions with identical marks of 9.925...also took third in each meet's
floor competition, posting a 9.95 at Regionals and a 9.90 at SECs...matched
her school-record score of 10.0 in winning the Tiger Invitational vault competition...first
Gator to score a 10.0 on multiple occasions...placed in the top three of every
vault competition but one in 1998, including six wins...also posted vault marks
of 9.95 in final two home meets...won six floor titles...posted collegiate-best
floor mark of 9.95 at Alabama and against LSU, winning both meets...member of
the Academic All-SEC Honor Roll. AS A SOPHOMORE (1997) - 1997 NCAA vault
champion with an individual event championships' average of 9.8875...only second
Gator gymnast and first since 1984 to win an NCAA event title...vault title
was the 100th NCAA event title claimed by the UF women's athletics program...also
qualified for the NCAA balance beam final, taking seventh with a 9.775...in
addition to earning All-America first-team honors for vault and beam, earned
a spot on the All-America second team with a floor mark of 9.80 during the NCAA
Championships' team competition...posted a collegiate-best beam score of 9.875
in NCAA Super Six competition...advanced to the NCAA vault final with a mark
of 9.925 in NCAA team competition...third in the NCAA Southeast Region vault
competition with a season-best 9.925...member of the Academic All-SEC Honor
Roll. AS A FRESHMAN (1996) - Set the Gator All-Time Best vault mark of
10.0 at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships, matching the meet record...became
the first Gator freshman to win an NCAA Southeast Region individual title since
Janice Kerr claimed the 1987 all-around crown...tied for 11th in the vault (9.925)
in the NCAA Championships' team competition to earn All-America second-team
honors...posted then-UF record vault mark of 9.975 at The Gainesville Sun Invitational
to claim a share of the meet's title...appeared in every vault lineup but one
as a freshman...posted season-best floor mark of 9.85 at Kentucky. PRIOR
TO FLORIDA -At the 1995 Level 10 Junior Olympic Nationals, took ninth in
all?around, second in floor exercise and seventh in vault...vault champion and
beam runner-up at 1995 Level 10 Regionals...took vault, beam and floor titles
at 1995 Level 10 Texas State meet, while finishing second in all-around and
third on bars...took second on vault at 1994 Level 10 Nationals...member of
Level 10 Region III team in 1994in 1989 Elite Zone competition, took first in
all-around, vault, beam and floor plus placed third on barsmember of 1988 and
'89 Elite Junior National team...member of Capital Gymnastics Club and coached
by Jim and Cheryl Jarrett. PERSONAL -Born Dec. 28, 1976...daughter of
Libby and Rod Hines...1995 graduate of Pflugerville High School...honor roll student...member
of Business Professionals of America plus served as a Peer Assisting Leadership
(PAL)...currently in third term as a gymnastics representative on the UF Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee...majoring in health science with plans to attend physical
therapy school.
