2006-07: Captured individual medals at the PING/Golfweek Preview Invitational and the NCAA East Regional … Finished the year with a team-best 71.76 stroke average, which ranked fourth in school history among sophomores … Received his second-career nod to the PING All-America first team … Also earned first-team PING All-Southeast Region accolades for the second time in his career … Named SEC Player of the Year in a vote by the league’s coaches, becoming just the fourth Gator ever to win the award … Though only three UF players earned the honor before him, Horschel’s conference Player of the Year award was the third for the Gators in the last six years, as Camilo Villegas took the accolade in 2002 and 2004 … Earned his second-career first-team All-SEC honor … A semifinalist for the Ben Hogan Award … Fired rounds of 71-73-69-71 at the NCAA Championships to finish in a tie for 35th with a total of 284 (+4) … His four-round total at the national championships ranks as the fifth-best four-round score in school history … Posted a six-under 210 (73-69-68) at the NCAA East Regional to tie for first place … His performance earned him a piece of the individual medal at NCAA Regionals for the second time in as many years, as he also shared the honor at the 2006 West Regional … Battled back from a tie for 23rd after the first round with his first consecutive sub-70 rounds of the season … Tied for 16th at the SEC Championship with a three-day total of 221 (74-74-73, +11) … Finished the United States Collegiate Classic with a share of 20th place after recording a total of 225 (75-74-76, +9) … Earned a tie for 17th at the Chris Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational, finishing with a two-over 218 (68-74-76) … Tied for third at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas with a three-round total of 215 (-1) … Played bogey-free golf for the first 23 holes of the tournament … Earned a tie for 22nd at the Puerto Rico Classic after shooting a third-round 68 for the second-consecutive tournament … Posted an even-par total of 216 (75-73-68) in San Juan … Finished the SunTrust Gator Invitational in a tie for seventh on the strength of a final-round 68, helping UF take its second team title of the season … Concluded the tournament with a score of 213 (71-74-68, +3) … Named to Golf World’s Mid-Season All-America team … Went 2-1-1 as part of Florida’s fourth-place showing at the Collegiate Match Play Championship … Tied for second at the Isleworth Invitational with a one-over 217 (79-67-71), leading the Gators to a second-place finish in the team standings … Used a tournament record-tying 67 in the second round to move from a tie for 75th into a tie for second over the tourney’s final two days … Picked up his second Golfweek Men’s Player of the Week accolade after his winning performance at the PING/Golfweek Preview Invitational … Took home his second career individual medal at The Preview after firing a career-low 63 in the final round to finish seven under for the tournament … Carded scores of 70-70-63 on the week to reach his total of 203 … The career-low effort tied for the third-lowest round in school history, represented the program’s fifth-best round by par and marked the second-lowest round in Florida history by a sophomore … Named Golfweek Men’s Player of the Week for his pair of sixth-place efforts in the Gators’ first two tournaments of the season … Produced his second top-10 finish of the year, and sixth in a row, at the Carpet Capital Collegiate, firing a six-under 210 (71-67-72) to tie for sixth … Earned the 10th top-10 finish of his career after tying for sixth at the Inverness Invitational, posting a score of 223 (75-74-74, +10) … The sixth-place showing was his second top-10 finish at the Inverness Invitational in as many years … A Golfweek preseason first-team All-America selection.

Amateur Competition: Member of the U.S. Team that took second place at the World Amateur Team Championships in Australia in the fall of 2008 ... Played on the United States team in the 2008 Palmer Cup in Scotland … Was the only returning member from the 2007 team … Halved his final match as the Americans fell to the European team 14-10 … Finished tied for 10th in stroke play at the 2008 U.S. Amateur at Pinehurst Country Club and advanced to match play for the third year in a row … One of the first eight players named to the prestigious U.S. Walker Cup team … Won three of his four matches, including a pair of foursomes matches with partner Rickie Fowler of Oklahoma State … Earned a singles match victory over local Irishman Rory McIlroy … Helped U.S. win its second-consecutive Walker Cup Match victory … Advanced to the first round of match play at the 107th U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club at San Francisco, Calif., after firing five-over 145 (76-69) in the stroke play portion … Fell to Derek Ernst in match play, 4 and 3 … Finished tied for sixth place at the 2007 Western Amateur at Point O’Woods Golf and Country Club at Benton Harbor, Mich., shooting a four-under 276 (68-69-70-69) … Lost to Clemson’s Kyle Stanley in the first round of match play … Tied for third at the 2007 Porter Cup at Niagara Falls C.C., shooting 12-under 268 (66-66-67-69) … Turned in a top-five finish at the Southern Amateur, finishing tied for fifth, shooting 11-under 277 (69-70-67-71) … Tied for fourth at the 2007 Northeast Amateur in Rumford, R.I., firing a two-over 278 (67-62-72-77) … His second-round 62 tied a tournament and Wannamoisett Country Club record, and was the lowest of the tournament by three strokes … Went undefeated at the 2007 Palmer Cup, leading the United States to an 18-6 victory over the European squad … Teamed with Georgia’s Brian Harman to win four-ball matches in the first and third rounds … Defeated Gareth Shaw, 2 up, in the second round and earned a 4-and-3 win over Oscar Floren in the fourth round to sweep his singles matches … Became just the second Gator ever to earn a spot on the Palmer Cup roster … Posted a 73 in U.S. Open local qualifying play in Haines City to finish as the first alternate for regional competition … Tied for first at the 2007 Azalea Amateur Invitational with a six-under total of 278 for the four-round affair (71-68-70-69) … Fell to Wake Forest’s Webb Simpson on the second playoff hole to earn runner-up honors … Posted a runner-up finish at the 2006 Western Refining College Golf All-America Classic with a 13-under 200 (71-62-67) … His second-round 62 tied the course record at the El Paso Country Club in El Paso, Texas … Earned Southern Golf Association National Amateur of the Month for October 2006 … Named a semifinalist for the 2007 Ben Hogan Award, given annually to the nation’s top amateur golfer … Won the individual medal at the 2006 U.S. Amateur Championship, shooting a two-day score of 138 (60-78, -5) at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. … His opening-round 60 was an 18-hole tournament and USGA record … Became the first Florida golfer to win the individual medal at the Championship since Brian Gay in 1993 … Collected match-play wins over Americans Ray Sheedy and David Merkow before being defeated on the last hole of his third-round match by eventual semifinalist Ryan Yip … Advanced to the match-play phase at the 2006 Western Amateur in Benton Harbor, Mich., after posting a two-under stroke-play score of 208 (70-71-67) … His score was good for fifth place in the 155-member field during the stroke-play portion of the tournament … Qualified for the 2006 U.S. Open at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. … Finished tied for 82nd after carding a score of 152 (75-77, +12), missing the cut by just two strokes … Competed at the 2005 U.S. Amateur Championship in Ardmore, Pa. … Fired a two-day score of 155 (77-78) … Competed at the 2004 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.
