Chris Tuten enters his third season as assistant coach for the Gators. He played under Coach Buddy Alexander during the 1990-91 season and returned to UF with considerable experience on the college level in addition to a playing resume highlighted by various titles on the amateur circuit.

An All-American at the University of North Florida in 1993, Tuten was also a member of the 1993 NAIA Championship team which marked the second NAIA title for the Ospreys. Additionally, he played on the Central Alabama Community College golf team, which also won the national championship. From 1993 to 1995 Tuten traveled on the professional tour, competing in Nike, Hooters, Power-Bilt and Tommy Armour. He captured titles at the 1995 Power-Bilt Traces Golf Classic, 1992 Metropolitan Amateur and 1991 Jacksonville City Amateur.

Tuten left the tour in 1996 and worked briefly as a marketing assistant for Snake Eyes Golf Clubs out of Ponte Vedra, Fla., and from 1996-99 he worked as a professional sales representative for TAP Pharmaceuticals. After taking three years off from competing, Tuten regained amateur status and continues to play in various amateur tournaments throughout the year.

Tuten's primary responsibilities for the Gators include coordinating Gator Golf Camps, working with players in practice and assisting in recruiting.

He graduated from North Florida in 1996 with a degree in communications. Born July 3, 1970, Tuten is a Jacksonville native. He enjoys football, fishing, surfing and snowboarding in his spare time.
