1991 SEC CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON

The 1991 Florida Gator Football squad finished an amazing regular season with a 10-1 overall record, the best by a Gator team in school history. Their 7-0 mark in SEC play earned them the title of SEC Champions making them the first squad in school history ever to be recognized with this distinction. This impressive play by the team earned them a New Year's day bid to play Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:

  • First team in school history to win 10 games in a season.
  • First team in school history to post a perfect SEC record.
  • Their 35-0 shutout win over Alabama marked the first time a Florida team had ever shut out the Crimson Tide and the 35 point margin of victory was also the team's largest over the Tide.
  • Tied the school record for best final national regular season ranking (3rd).
  • Set the SEC record for total passing yards in a season with 3,393.
  • Set the SEC record for touchdown passes in a season with 32.
  • Set the SEC record for average passing yards per game with 308.5.
  • Outscored conference opponents by a combined score of 226-74.
  • 11 All American performers.
  • 13 All-SEC performers.
