PRIOR TO FLORIDA:

Rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and the No. 18 dual-threat quarterback in the country…Led Venice to a 9-2 record as a senior…Passed for 1,876 yards with 18 touchdowns and only one interception and rushed for 821 yards with 22 touchdowns in 2009…Completed 80 of 133 pass attempts for 1,399 yards and 12 touchdowns, along with 919 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior…Was named to the 2008 FSWA 5A All-State First-Team and named the Team MVP and All-Area first-team…Followed that by earning FSWA 5A All-State First-Team honors again in 2009…Threw for 1,318 yards with 13 touchdowns and rushed for 708 yards and nine touchdowns in 2007 as a sophomore…Chose Florida over USF, West Virginia, Miami and FSU…Coached by John Peacock.
