What They Are Saying About Tony Joiner

“Tony will be a captain of our team. It is well deserved. I think he's an excellent football player. He love the game of football. He loves playing in "The Swamp" and he loves the passion. He is helping a lot with the younger players. I'd like to have a few more Tony Joiners on that side of the ball right now. Not so much just his position, but the leadership role.”
Urban Meyer, former UF Head Coach

"I have no worries. Playing in front of Reggie Nelson and Tony Joiner is like playing in
front of Brian Dawkins and Sean Taylor." (11/08/06)
Reggie Lewis, former UF Defensive Back

"I love Tony Joiner. He loves football and he loves the University of Florida." (9/6/06)
Urban Meyer, former UF Head Coach

"He (Meyer) said, 'If what you want in the future is not what you have now, make a change,' When I sat down and really thought about what he was saying, that's what made me really make a change and start loving football and being involved with my teammates and taking care of things. Personally, I've come a long way." (9/6/06)
Tony Joiner

"Tony has been a real vocal guy who wants to do it right. He took the leadership (role) this summer with the secondary group. It was a fragmented group of guys. It took a while to see how the chemistry of that group was going to unfold. He was at the forefront of that." (9/6/06)
Chuck Heater, UF Cornerbacks Coach

"Antonio is a great athlete.  He has an excellent work ethic.  He is the type of kid you hope and dream for.  Antonio can be an excellent college player, especially at defensive back.  He has great speed.  He has a great eye for the ball.  He is an excellent coverage guy who can also go in for the blitz.  Florida is getting an all-around athlete.  On top of this he is just an all-around good kid with a great character." (February 15, 2004)
Patrick Herrington, Haines City head football coach

"He loves to play.  He's very competitive and loves to hit.  He's also very athletic an was a basketball player.  He'll be the enforcer-type safety.  He'll come down and make plays."  (March 15, 2004)
Mike Locksley, Former UF Recruiting Coordinator

"Joiner will play the strong safety position and he plays the position with a linebacker mentality.  He hits like a truck and has the speed to cover receivers."  (March 15, 2004)
